The Mind-the-NEXUS project joins the annual conference of the Italian Political Science Association in Trento, 3–5 September 2026
The Mind-the-NEXUS project will participate in the 2026 annual conference of the Società Italiana di Scienza Politica (SISP), taking place at the University of Trento from 3–5 September 2026.
Project members Tiziana Caponio and Eliska Drapalova are organising the panel “Populism and Migration: Politics, Parties, and Policies.” The panel will bring together scholars working on the relationship between migration, populism and party competition across Europe and beyond.
The discussion will focus on how migration has become one of the most politically contested issues in contemporary politics and how it has shaped political discourse, electoral dynamics, and policymaking. Contributions will address topics such as the politicisation of migration, the role of populist and radical right parties, local and national political responses, media framing, public opinion, and the policy consequences of migration debates.
The panel will also serve as an important opportunity to open broader discussions connected to the themes of Mind-the-NEXUS, present first reflections and emerging findings, and connect with researchers working on related issues at the European, national, and local levels.
The full panel abstract and information on contributions can be consulted on the conference website following this link: [insert link].
